My Wedding Song 1

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

If you go back to the early wedding of the 16th century the wedding songs played an integral part of the ceremony. The tradition was for the bride to be led down the alter by her farther accompanied by the wedding songs of their choice usually something slow and fairly quiet. After the vows had been taken she then walked back down the aisle with her new husband accompanied by a much livelier tune signifying the happiness of the occasion.

So what wedding songs to choose? This can be a difficult task as there is so much out there to choose from. Are you having a traditional or a contemporary wedding? Depending on the type of wedding you are having will probably reflect the type of music that you will have.

The wedding songs that you will choose will affect the whole mood of the celebrations and therefore need careful thought. If it is to be a traditional type of wedding then maybe you will opt for the more traditional types of wedding songs e.g. Wedding March by Mendelssohn's and the ever popular Bridal Chorus by Wagner better known as here comes the Bride. Maybe you are having a traditional wedding but do not want to stick to the traditional wedding songs, by choosing different ones you will make your wedding celebration much more memorable to your guests.

Are there any contemporary or classical pieces of music that you and you partner find memorable to you both? If so maybe you could have these as your wedding songs which will serve as a reminder of you very special day.

How about hiring a vocalist or a musician to play your wedding songs live, this would certainly change the whole mood of the occasion. However you would need to check with your church venue etc that they would be happy with this arrangement.

The most important thing to remember when choosing your wedding songs is to make it personal to you and your partner. Do not try to please your guests, this is your day and the wedding songs are being played for you so make sure they are what you want

After you have chosen the song you wish to be played when walking down the isle you need to work out the songs you would like played at your wedding reception.

The First dance in always important as this is where the newly married bride and groom dance together in front of the guests.

Usually the bride and groom will use a song that is special to them or has some memories associated with for the first dance.

Greatest Love Of All

I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

Chorus:
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I'll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Chorus

And if by chance, that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.Don't you want to stand still with me?

1) Mexican Wedding Cookies

Pastelitos de boda (literally, "wedding cookies") are a traditional dessert at Mexican weddings. Made with walnuts, pecans, or almonds, they're a sweet way to thank guests for sharing the day. To give as favors, tuck two into a tiny clear box along with a note imprinted with a fitting sentiment or your wedding date. Type on a computer, print on colored vellum, then cut the messages into tiny strips.

Makes 20

* 1 cup almonds, plus 40 more for decorating
* 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 8 ounces (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
* 2 1/4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
* 1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract
* 1 large egg white, beaten

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread 1 cup almonds on a baking sheet; toast until fragrant, about 12 minutes. Let cool.
2. Put toasted almonds, flour, salt, and cinnamon in a food processor; process until almonds are finely chopped, about 1 minute. Set aside.
3. In the bowl of a mixer fitted with the paddle, cream butter and 1 cup confectioners' sugar on medium until pale and fluffy, about 4 minutes. Add vanilla and almond extracts, and mix until combined. Add the almond mixture, and mix on low until dough just comes together.
4. Roll dough into twenty 1 1/2-inch balls; place on ungreased baking sheets, spaced 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball slightly with your palm.
5. Toss 1 tablespoon beaten egg white and remaining 40 whole almonds in a small bowl to coat. Press two almonds into each cookie.
6. Bake cookies until lightly browned around the edges, about 25 minutes. Transfer baking sheets to a wire rack; let stand until cool enough to handle.
7. Place remaining 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar in a medium bowl. Roll warm cookies in sugar, reserving any remaining sugar. Return cookies to baking sheets. Let cookies cool 15 minutes, and roll again. Store in an airtight container up to 1 week.

Hairstyle

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Sometimes simple really is better, and this bride has the best of both worlds. Like an updo, her hair is swept off her face, so it won't be in her way, but she still has the relaxed, natural look of wearing her hair down and free! Love it!
